Welcome!

I am a sociologist of religion and politics whose research examines how value conflicts, religion, and democracy intersect in contemporary societies. My work has shaped international debates on culture wars, illiberalism, and democratic resilience. It has been recognized with multiple international book awards and major competitive grants, including support from the European Research Council (ERC STG).

I am full professor of sociology at LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome. Beyond academia, I engage with policymakers, civil society, and the media to foster dialogue on democracy, pluralism, and the role of religion in public life. I currently lead the team organizing the European Academy of Religion Annual Conference 2026.
